The Story Behind the TRICYCLE

TRICYCLE specializes in Interactive Media Design & Software Development.

Its our belief that a great app, website, custom piece of software or marketing campaign is more than a pretty face. For years we’ve used the analogy of the “three legged stool” – meaning that there exist three aspects of equal importance in every project.

For TRICYCLE, we believe that means that DESIGN, DEVELOPMENT & MARKETING can’t exist independent of one another. Great code may work, but only at the peril of being ugly and instantly rejected by the user. Likewise, a beautiful product that doesn’t work, or even worse, is hard to navigate, gets abandoned and never produces repeat usage. A beautiful product that works great, but doesn’t reach the user or fill a need is nothing more than art on your bedroom wall (nobody sees it). The “Market First” approach is what we use to determine the validity of a product. Are people waiting for this, and just don’t know it yet? If so, then we move forward.

After the market demand is proven, we tend to start development strategies with terms like “User Friendly” and “Intuitive” or today, “Interactive“. The user now dictates the code and the design.  From a longevity perspective this the only smart formula for success.

When designing the perfect software company, we made the “three legged stool” a core value of all we do.  The TRICYCLE emerged out of the frustration that the “stool” just sat there and didn’t move. We knew that people wanted more than a great product that pushed information one direction. We learned that consumers demand the ability to control their experience and interact with brands. They want to almost “choose the ending”, themselves. We knew the “Stool” needed to MOVE and evolve with the user.

The TRICYCLE gives us the perfect analogy of Movement & Interactive Design – it invokes fun and youthful play, while granting a sense of adventure. Its our hope you will take the RIDE with us.
